Here’s our Aspect Kitchens take on traditional favorite “Sticky Toffee Pudding” perfect served hot with toffee sauce or cold with vanilla ice cream!

For this recipe you will need

  • 50g Butter
  • 150g Soft Brown Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Black Treacle
  • 2 Medium Eggs
  • 175g Pitted Dates
  • 1 tbsp Bicarbonate of Soda
  • 175g Self Raising Flour
  • 1 x Twinings Maple & Chamomile Tea Bag
  • Optional: 1tbsp Golden Syrup, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

    • Step by Step…

  • Set your oven to 190C/Gas 5
  • Grease your cake tin and dust lightly with flour.
  • Firstly place your tea bag in a cup of boiling water and leave to brew.
  • Chop the dates. We left ours a little larger, but you may prefer them finely chopped.
  • After removing the tea bag pour your freshly brewed tea, or boiling water over the dates and leave to soak.
  • Mix together the Butter and the Sugar, then slowly add the black treacle, eggs and flour.
  • When the mixture is blended thoroughly fold in the dates and add the bicarbonate of soda.
  • Pour the mixture into the cake tins and place in the oven for 40 – 45 minutes, then allow to cool in the tin.

If you don’t like the idea of using herbal tea the recipe works just as well with breakfast tea, or plain hot water.

Either way this sticky toffee date cake is delicious!

Its the same every year; ‘The Great British Bake Off’ comes back and everyone rediscovers the Delia within.

I am no exception. A keen baker, I see every family get together as a chance to make a cake, and now with a stunning top of the range Wolf oven at my disposal I was only too happy to make pudding for my visiting relatives. Using our Wolf E series Oven, I set out to make our family favorite Sticky Toffee Pudding, with some Banana Muffins for the children.
Having never used the oven before and after a brief run through with our Wolf representative I was keen to have a go.

For our delicious Banana Muffins you will need:

    • 115g Butter
    • 115g Caster Sugar
    • 2 Medium Eggs
    • 1 – 2 Ripe Bananas

      Step by Step…

    • Preheat oven to 180°C, 160°C fan, Gas mark 4.Weigh your eggs. Note the weight and measure the same amount of Flora, sugar and flour.
    • Place all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and beat with a wooden spoon 2–3 minutes until well mixed. Place dessertspoons of the mixture in 10 paper cases or greased bun tins.
    • Bake for around 20 minutes until soft and springy to touch. Cool on a wire tray.
    • Decorate as you see fit! I chose to use butter icing and sliced banana, but you could use chocolate chips or toffee chunks!

How I found using the oven

The oven has ten cooking modes, allowing you to Bake, Roast, Broil, Convection, Convection Bake, Convection Roast, Convection Broil, Bake Stone, Proof and Dehydrate.
I found the oven extremely easy to use, the touch controls were responsive, and clear. I set the oven to Convection Bake (160°C fan). Withing five minutes our Wolf oven had reached temperature and beeped to tell me it was ready. I placed the cupcakes on the top shelf and the sticky toffee cakes on the middle shelf.

I had been promised that due to dual convection even browning was guaranteed. I was also told that I wouldn’t need to keep opening the oven as the blue interior and the interior light would allow me to see clearly how my cakes were doing. I chose not to use the oven timer as I was near by but it’s good to know that should you wish to you can.

After 20 minutes my cupcakes were done, I removed them and placed them straight onto the Dekton work surface, a pro of a non resin work top!

20 minutes later I went back and removed my sticky toffee cakes.

I was so pleased to see that even though I hadn’t turned the baking tray all the cakes were the same colour from front to back. They were cooked evenly all the way through and not a single one was burnt! I cooked them for exactly the time advised in the recipe, meaning that our Wolf oven is not only accurate in temperature but does not lose efficiency when cooking more than one item at a time.

Aspect Kitchens Richmond Showroom Now Open!

Following our success in the Surrey Hills we have opened our second showroom in the stunning Richmond area. A stones throw away from the original Richmond bridge, our new Kitchen showroom displays everything from our bespoke fitted furniture to top of the range appliances & worksurfaces.

When deciding on an area to open our new showroom set to be our flagship store, we chose Richmond as it fell close to a lot of our existing clients and made it more accessible to them. We are delighted with the results and location and feel proud to have somewhere so perfect to showcase our bespoke product.

Fitting out the showroom has been an exciting task, we’ve tried to display as much as we can, to give our potential clients an idea of what they can achieve with an Aspect kitchen, study or bedroom. We’ve used a mixture of our luxury English fitted furniture, and our bespoke German kitchens to show how versatile our designs can be. From lift up glass doors, to Walnut veneers, we have packed in as much as we can, and are looking forward to our next display coming later this year.

If you are looking for kitchen ideas, or to gain some information on different work surfaces the Richmond showroom is a great place to start. We have the latest from consentino Dekton on display as well as Silestone. We also display natural granite, Corian by Dupont, glass splashbacks and traditional tiles.

Our appliance suppliers such as Subzero-Wolf & Miele have supplied us with the latest technology and we are pleased to showcase “M-touch” and the best of refrigeration and range cookers.

The Richmond showroom is located in East Twickenham, on the Richmond Road.
To speak to a designer, to make an appointment or for directions don’t hesitate to call us on 0208 892 5343.
    The showroom is open Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm and Saturday 10am – 4pm.
